We will consider as winter-hardy clematis varieties those varieties that can winter confidently in USDA zone 4 and somewhat – in USDA zone 3. These are first of all princes (Atragene) and varieties from the Viticella group. They winter well without shelter at temperatures down to 29,2 °F, and sometimes even lower, and after severe frosts they easily restore the lost above-ground part.
Abundance
Abundance is a very old French variety of clematis with wine-red or purple-pink flowers. It is a high-growing and rather winter-hardy clematis with very abundant blooms.

The flowers are quite large, very spectacular.

Albina Plena

Alionushka
‘Alyonushka’ – one of the most popular bush varieties of clematis.
